Split Paddle Board Expo
Stand Up Paddling Adriatic (Adriatic-SUP Split) is a participant on small boats and water sports attractions expo. The expo held in early Spring of 2017. We’ll do a quick history how Spit finds himself overwhelmed with paddle boards at this expo.
Brief history of town of Split
A long time ago, the city of Split was a famous ship building yard on an Adriatic coast. We are backed up with skilled engineers and construction place since ages. We made boats even for foreign countries! Nowadays, It surely held its tradition of hosting a boat show expos. This boat show is a perfect opportunity to catch a glimpse how the craft of the boat building progressed from the late 80’s. Transitioning from heavy duty working ships and travel boats to sophisticated water crafts. With Split becoming a major tourism center on Dalmatian coast later on, so did the demand for the small boats and water sports attraction rose.
Expo = 60% paddle boards fill
As expected, the expo is booming with new and exciting offers from various distributors and manufacturers. Big number of visitors is scouting the products for new tourist season.
One thing that is quite obvious and different from past years is the introduction of a water sport attraction Stand up paddleboarding and many paddle board distributors is showing face this year.
After 5 years in Split paddle board enjoying, we are pretty excited to see Stand Up Paddleboarding finally getting a right attention. Even though the locals are still mixing surfing with SUP-ing, we can definitely say that the interest is rising worldwide. Paddleboarding is becoming a legitimate sport as well as just recreational everyday activity.
The offer of the brands is wide. Glazing from budget inflatables to high-end race boards. It was worth to see them all in one place. The veteran brands in SUP sport were also with us from JP Australia and Jobe to Focus, F-one, and RRD.
We, Adriatic SUP, were covered with fine Focus harboards, F-one inflatables, Prime paddle-s, GTA and beautiful IRocker that dragged our attention with great models. We have a paddles & SUP backpacks to expose that is coming with every paddle board. Some are disappointment, some surprise. Even though, you are able to paddle with every one of them. Many other inflatables exposed were just for show and definitely pure cheap production. You could see the difference when just touching every one of them with hands. Still, they are here to fit everyone’s budget.
On the downside, rain was present on all 4 days of the duration of expo but that didn’t affect the enthusiasm of the visitors and people who were there to get acquainted with new attractions just before the new summer season.
Expo vibe was very friendly and there was a lot of people interested in trying paddleboarding even though the sea was still pretty cold. The adventurous spirit was not lacking and people had a really good time. From all the boards we tried it is hard to pick the best brand but what was certain was that the hard boards were big winners over inflatables.
On the final day, there is a SUP race to attract competitors from many other countries. Audience finds it very exciting to watch, as some of them is stunned with watching a new thing going on and experienced ones could learn a tip or two. For those not in love with water sports, electric bikes and similar is opportunity to glide around without getting wet.
This expo is proving that there is a bright future for the fast-growing sport such as Stand Up Paddleboarding.
